Each year, the Maine DEP administers the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Discharge Monitoring Report – Quality Assurance (DMR-QA) Study, an “annual study required by all Major and selected Minor MEPDES permit facilities under Section 308 of the Clean Water Act” (source: Maine Department of Environmental Protection.)
In this course, Phyllis Rand will discuss the DMR-QA Study, why it is conducted, and proper lab methods and best practices for preparing and analyzing DMR-QA Study samples. Following a morning classroom portion of this class, students will be able to observe live demonstrations of laboratory tests run to ensure accurate and acceptable DMR-QA Study results.

– EPA’s Discharge Monitoring Report – Quality Assurance Program background information
– Proper sample preparations and analytical techniques
– Laboratory equipment calibrations and use
– Live demonstrations of required tests, including Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), pH, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Settleable Solids, Total Residual Chlorine, and E. coli

A $15 late registration fee will be charged for all registrations received within one week of the class. A confirmation email will be sent to the registration email provided.

Cancellations must be received at Training@NEIWPCC.org no less than seven days prior to course start time. Cancellations received after this time will be charged $50. Registrants who do not cancel and who fail to show up are responsible for full payment.”
