Description
This advanced course is designed for individuals preparing for higher-level certification exams or who are looking to further their understanding of municipal wastewater treatment science. Attendees should have completed basic wastewater treatment coursework, hold a low-level wastewater license, or have a basic working knowledge of municipal biological nutrient removal as a prerequisite for this course.
It is imperative that treatment plants remove nitrogen and phosphorus to maintain the integrity of the receiving waters. This class reviews the science and control behind biological nutrient removal. Topics covered include nitrification, denitrification, biological phosphorus removal, and chemical phosphorus removal. Math calculations for municipal wastewater treatment are also covered.
This course is sponsored by NEIWPCC in conjunction with MassDEP and MAWEA.
