Description

This course will provide guidance on how to provide a safe work environment for the water & wastewater laboratory analyst. Topics cover the safe storage of lab chemicals, identification of common lab electrical hazards, best practices when working alone in the lab, regulations for storing flammables, combustibles and compressed gas cylinders, chemical hygiene and choosing personal protective equipment. “Pop-up questions” will be administered throughout the course to reinforce learning.

This course will cover

  • Common safety hazards in the laboratory,
  • The importance of safety data sheets and chemical safety,
  • Personal and chemical hygiene practices in the laboratory,
  • Potential electrical hazards in the laboratory,
  • Potential sources of bloodborne pathogens
  • Common personal protective equipment for the laboratory analyst

Course Details

Wastewater Training Contact Hours (TCHs) are approved in CT and MA and pending approval in ME*, NH, RI, NY, VT.
*Also pending approval for drinking water operators.

Presented by JETCC. Maine JETCC is a program managed by NEIWPCC through a contract with Maine DEP.
All participants must be registered to view the course. Registration closes when the class starts.
