| This three-day, 15-hour course intended for those preparing to take Grades 1 through 4 of the NEWEA Collection Systems Certification exams. Participants will receive instruction on collection system operation and maintenance (O&M), including but not limited to the purpose of wastewater collection, wastewater flow characteristics, collection system components; pump stations, system maintenance and inspection; pipeline rehabilitation, and collection system safety. The course will also review math concepts and provide example problems for exam preparation, so bring a BASIC CALCULATOR to use during class. As part of this course, you have the option to sign up to take the exam proctored at the facility on Wednesday, January 20th.This course will be held at Springfield Water and Sewer in Springfield, MA. The third day of the course is test day if you choose to take it.
Important note: Certification exams are now administered only by NEWEA. Those seeking to take the exam must apply and test directly through NEWEA. Please visit NEWEA’s website for more information or to apply to take an exam: https://www.newea.org/careers/certification/collection-systems-certification-program/ Those planning on taking the exam are required to apply directly with NEWEA and notify NEIWPCC at least 30 days prior to the course. Deadline to apply for the exam and notify NEIWPCC is December 19th, 2025. This course is sponsored by NEIWPCC in conjunction with the EPA. Course Details Physical materials are available for this class at a price of $5 per day of the course. If you wish to have physical materials available for the course, please select the option for them when adding this course to your cart. NEIWPCC recommends Sacramento State Operation and Maintenance of Wastewater Collection Systems, Volumes 1 & 2 as reference materials and for further study for anyone preparing for a NEWEA exam. These textbooks are available for purchase as part of this course for $250 for the set. They will be provided on the first day of the class to anyone who purchases them. Links to certificates will be emailed to participants after the course concludes and staff verify attendance through sign in sheets. A $15 late registration fee will be charged for all registrations received within one week of the class. A confirmation email will be sent to the registration email provided. Cancellations must be received at Training@NEIWPCC.org no less than seven days prior to course start time. Cancellations received after this time will be charged $50. Registrants who do not cancel and who fail to show up are responsible for full payment. |
