Technical Report (TR) -16, Guides for the Design of Wastewater Treatment Works, now defines critical equipment and offers guidance on backup-power, flood-elevation and related design considerations, and levels of protection for new equipment. The guide includes new and revised design considerations and expanded discussions of flooding as an emergency condition and as a consideration when siting wastewater-treatment facilities.

The additions were ordered by NEIWPCC’s governing Commission in 2014 in the wake of Hurricanes Sandy and Irene and the February, 2013, northeaster. The revisions affect several chapters to the fourth (2011) edition, called the Revised 2011 Edition. The Revised 2011 TR-16 is available as a bound hard copy ($95) or USB ($25).
