This 3-day course is designed to be an introduction for operators who are new to the wastewater field or who need a refresher on the basics. It will introduce definitions, terminology, and concepts of biological wastewater treatment and process control. We will also cover abbreviations, vocabulary, practice exam questions, and wastewater math. The final section of the third day of the course will feature a tour of Portland Water District’s East End Treatment Plant.

  • Certification and exam requirements
  • Operator responsibilities
  • Wastewater characteristics
  • Intro to microbiology & growth phase of microorganisms
  • Sampling and monitoring
  • Biological treatment plant overview
  • Introduction to process control

Presented by JETCC. Maine JETCC is a program managed by NEIWPCC through a contract with Maine DEP.

Registration must be received by September 25, 2024 to ensure enrollment. Registrations received after this time will be charged a $15 late fee. A confirmation email will be sent to the registration email provided.

Cancellations: Seven days’ notice is required IN WRITING (mailed, faxed, or emailed to info@neiwpcc-jetcc.org) for you to cancel at no cost. Cancellations received after this time will be charged $25 for programs under $100 and $50 for programs over $100. Registrants who do not cancel or who fail to show are responsible for full payment.
